Flying Pan Blue @ Itaewon – Have a cozy brunch on weekend

On the weekend, especially when it is raining, people usually skip their breakfast and have a dull day. Although the laziness comes to the mind, how about start the weekends with fresh and tasteful brunches? Placed in both Itaewon and Sinsa (가로수 길), The Flying Fan serves you delightful brunches.

When you go through the entrance, flower in full blossom and adorable little culinary equipments welcome you as tranquil as you are in your grandmother’s house. Once blended in warm atmosphere, you are ready to order exquisite breakfasts.

Interior design’s sensitivity itself provides the comfort atmosphere whether one talks with his or her friends, family, or lover. One thing special about the Flying fan blue is that once clientele finishes the dining, clerk fills the empty table with blooming flowers so that rest of customers do not feel awkwardness about the empty seats.

The first food that I ordered was Orange Blossom French Toast (15,000 KRW). With lightly roasted orange, the orange blossom French toast is served over cream de patisserie and maple syrup. Each orange on the French toast refreshes and prevents from too much sweetness of the syrup. Reasonable thickness and amount of the French toast also fulfills the satiety.

Ham, Cheddar Cheese, Tomato and Pesto Sandwich (10,000 KRW) also satisfied my palate. The bread of the sandwich is well roasted and crispy, and the sauce of it is creamy. Inside of the sandwich, there are some nuts, tomato, cheese and pepper harmonize altogether to generate rich flavor. Served with salad and bamboo soup, the sandwich is perfect for brunch menu.

Adjust the daily routine with fresh brunches at the Flying Fan blue. Or at least glorify your morning with great sandwiches. It’s your choice.

Bong Chu Steamed Chicken (봉추찜닭)@ Hongdae – Korean Traditional Steamed Chicken

This article is partly excerpt form Jenny Cleary’s www.foodcoma911.com

If you had enough fried or greasy chickens, Bong Chu Steamed Chicken(봉추찜닭), located near Hong Dae, would provide you an exquisite experience. Unlike other traditional korean food restaurants, Bong Chu Jjim Ddak facinated me with modern interior décor. The restaurant seemed crowded during the lunch time.

While the Jjim Ddak is being prepared for us, servers offer us bowls of bland Kimchi soup (Dong chi mi - 동치미). Dong chi mi not only stimulates your appetite, but also soothes pungent savor of the Bong Chu Jjim Ddak. It is not charged on you, so you can ask for extras if you wish.

The restaurant provides you options how clienteles want to design their dishes. The type of noodles (thin noodle, wide noodle, or combination of both noodle) and how much chicken you want (half a chicken, a whole chicken, or a chicken and a half). Consisting of three adults male, we ordered a chicken with thin and wide Chinese noodles (22,000 KRW). A menu recommended that medium size of the dish fits for three men or four women.

If you almost finish your dish and do not feel full enough, you can ask for Over-cooked Rice (Nurungi) which mixes with your leftover. Few munites later, the server will bring a sizzling Nurungi on the pan. Once the server put the Nurungi over the remnant, mix them and you are ready to enjoy the second round.

Mildly pepperly and sweet, compatible Bong Chu Jjim Ddak is palatable over the all ages. While you amuse yourself with great dish, both Bong Chu’s atmospheres and dainty offer incentive reminiscent of Korean cuisine. Experience it!
