Brown Sugar Cafe @ Boston

On October 10th, 2010, Chapel Hill-Chauncy Hall School food club went Brown Sugar Café in Boston. When we got there, the restaurant was pretty crowded and also there was a line waiting for the seat. First impression of the restaurant is that it well expressed the Thailand’s exotic atmosphere. Because of its delicate interior ornaments, people who walk through glimpsed the restaurant.

Going the restaurant by a group, CH-CH food club had a chance of having various Thai cuisines. First of all, we ordered Thai Ice Tea ($2.95) and Thai Ice Coffee ($2.95) for drinks. They are all creamy and sweet, which are pretty common in Thai restaurant. Both of them are sweet so I highly recommend you if you are sugar-lover. (Orange drink is a Thai Ice Tea and the black beverage behind is Thai Ice Coffee)

For appetizer, Dowon Choi, one of food club member, ordered Salmon Spring Rolls ($10.95). Salmon Spring Rolls served with salad with Balsamic sauce, which is great for arousing appetite. Also the flower made by carrot pleased eyes as well as relish. Although the taste was fine, the price does not worthy as an appetizer.

While he was about to finish his appetizer, the main dishes were served in a row. I personally got Blue Lagoon ($18.95) because I am a big fan of sea food. Blue Lagoon is a fried crab dish that is served with fresh salad, dice of pine apple, tomato, spices, broccoli, and curry-like sauce. Although crab itself was not crispy because of the sauce, the meat was juicy and pleased my palate. After I finish it, I felt satiety and rejoicing because Blue Lagoon wasn’t greasy at all.

Atmosphere of Brown Sugar Café was occult yet excited. While I was staying at the restaurant, besides the restaurant’s interior design and tranquil jazz music, there was something I enjoyed about the restaurant. There were three birthday celebrations when we visited Brown Sugar Café. Before the birthday song came out, the lights turns off gently, and suddenly the amusing birthday song came out with another dazzling lights. People stopped eating and celebrate as a whole. It was amazing.
